We will provide you with detailed maps for various routes ranging in distance from 20 km to 130 km.  The area is mostly flat but if it’s hills you crave we can find you some grinders.  Maps indicate points of interests and places to eat. We can provide customized routes and lots of possibilities. Tour guides can make your ride more enjoyable and are available for a nominal fee.

This is a historical area since it was a major battlefield during the War of 1812. Whether you are looking for a leisurely bike ride or a more challenging one, we have the ride for you.

Cycle a few minutes to Port Rowan for groceries, refreshments, an ice cream cone in an old-fashioned ice cream parlour or a delectable dessert in one of the tearooms. Restaurants and fresh fruit and vegetable stands can be found throughout the county.

Route 1 (60K) – Erie Shores Wind Farm/Port Burwell: This route heads west along the lake to Port Burwell. There are over 70 giant wind turbines in this area. Climb one of the oldest wooden lighthouses in Canada and enjoy the view. Stop for some fresh lake perch in town. Walk the beautiful beach and visit Port Burwell Provincial Park.

Route 2 (100K) – Turkey Point/Port Ryerse: Head out along the bay stopping at Bird Studies Canada to view their trails and bird watching area. Picnic sites are available. Enjoy the lookout across Long Point Bay. Next stop is Turkey Point, with its large marina, restaurants and two miles of groomed sandy beach. Continue along the lakeshore to the hamlet of Normandale which has a lovely tearoom. Further up the road is historic Port Ryerse with beautiful period homes. Read the historic plaques. There are some tough hills on this route.

Route 3 (130K) – Vittoria/Port Dover: Take the back roads past orchards and farms to the hamlet of Vittoria and stop at Kernal Peanuts which sells locally grown peanuts. Just down the road is The Cider Keg, known for its sparkling cider and preserves. Next stop is the picturesque port town of Port Dover, once home of the world’s largest freshwater fishing fleet. Americans burned the entire town to the ground in 1814. Today the town has an edgy feel with many hip boutiques. Walk the pier, the focal point of town and down to the lighthouse. Visit the Harbour Museum. Take a walk along the sandy beach. Visit the Terrace Room in the Erie Beach Hotel for a platter of Lake Erie perch and celery bread. Locals say it’s the best!

Route 4 (75K) – Long Point to Delhi. Delhi is located within the heart of the tobacco growing belt in Ontario. Unique to Delhi is the Tobacco Museum and Heritage Centre. Delhi boats a diverse ethnic makeup and is home to many Belgians, Dutch, Germans, Hungarians and Poles. Stop for lunch at one of the many fine restaurants in Delhi before heading back to Long Point. This route is flat.
